Building on the site’s history of innovation

The Kenilworth NEST (Northeast Science & Technology Center) 11 project is an adaptive reuse of a defunct pharmaceutical research campus, transforming a site built in 1982 into modern AI infrastructure.

Kenilworth NEST 11 is the first CoreWeave facility under construction in Kenilworth. The project is redeveloping a defunct pharmaceutical research building, built in 1982, into modern AI infrastructure. CoreWeave is funding approximately $150 million in new substation and electrical infrastructure. The new electrical upgrades will serve the broader community, not just NEST 11.

The Kenilworth Nest 11 Facility

How Kenilworth NEST 11 is being built

Purpose-built AI infrastructure, designed to operate responsibly within the community around it.

About as quiet as the hum of a refrigerator

Predicted sound at the property line is roughly comparable to a household refrigerator and quieter than normal conversation - 42–49 dB. NEST 11 is designed to meet applicable New Jersey noise limits. Independent acoustic testing has been completed and will be repeated before operations begin.

It works like the radiator in your car

The cooling system is a closed loop. It is filled once, then the same coolant continuously moves through sealed pipes, carries heat away from the computers, releases that heat, and returns to start again.

After the initial fill, day-to-day water use is expected to be comparable to an office building.

CoreWeave pays for the infrastructure it needs

CoreWeave is funding approximately $150 million in new electrical infrastructure, including a new substation.

That cost is not being passed on to local ratepayers.

The new electrical capacity will support NEST 11 and serve the broader community.

40 MW of planned capacity

NEST 11 has a planned 40 MW load, supported by the new electrical infrastructure funded by CoreWeave.

The project is designed to use 15% less energy than a comparable building built to today’s energy code.

New Jersey union trades are building this project

Carpenters, scaffolders, sheet metal workers, electricians, pipefitters and apprentices are building the facility today. The work below is from CoreWeave data center construction.

Training the workforce behind AI infrastructure

Nest 11 is home to one of two CoreWeave University training hubs in the country. Technicians from CoreWeave data centers nationwide come here for paid, multi-week, hands-on training—and stay, eat, and spend locally while they’re here.

Fooda partnership

Bringing more business to local restaurants

Instead of relying on a national catering contract, CoreWeave works with Fooda to bring meals from restaurants in and around Kenilworth to crews on site—creating a recurring source of local business.

PROTECT.NGO Community Partner

Expanding cybersecurity support for local nonprofits

CoreWeave is helping bring cybersecurity resources to Union County nonprofits and community organizations through Protect.ngo, including local education and access to its Cyber Builders program at no cost to participating nonprofits.
